Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Michael Jackson has died aged 50.

Late on Thursday night (UK time) it was reported that the pop star was rushed to UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles in what was described as a 'deep coma' after suffering a suspected heart attack. Not long afterwards, he was pronounced dead.

The artist had an illustrious career which started as part of the 'Jackson 5', but as a solo artist went on to score 7 Number one singles and 8 Number One albums in the UK helping to propel him to global stardom and to becoming 'The King Of Pop'.

However, his achievements were frequently overshadowed with problems both medically and personally, including skin conditions which resulted in an ever-changing appearance and high profile court cases which threatened to damage his reputation.

But even through all the ups and downs of his extraordinary life, his ever-present army of fans remained loyal throughout.

Michael Jackson was due to to begin performing in an epic series of over 50 sold out concerts at London's O2 arena next month.

He will leave behind 3 sons and of course an everlasting legacy of his contribution to popular music.

This morning during breakfast between 9-10am, 96.2 The Revolution will pay it's own tribute to the King Of Pop by playing 1 hour of back-to-back songs from Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 showcasing the wonderful array of music he brought to our lives.

If you would like to pay tribute to arguably one of the greatest artists in pop, text us your message to 81800, don't forget to start your message with the word 'REV', or email studio@therevolution962.com
